Revolution number 8:
Crossing to Peru? .. que rico ...
I always find reasons not to stop for a minute but, tempted to have a pisco and the excuse to continue with my gastronomic journey, I went back to the East Village. This is a Peruvian restaurant located in a corner of one of my favorite neighborhoods.
The place:Mancora.

The magic combination: pisco sour and picarones.
For those unfamiliar with both, the Peruvian dessert picarones are a kind of donut with a homemade honey. Obviously made fresh that same day, it was fried just minutes before. They were really tasty and warm and just rightly cooked; crispy on the outside and a little more humid inside.

Those who know me well, are aware of my fanatism for fresh and homemade products. Such is my obsesion that when I offer catering services, I give my final touches overnight. Many think that’s crazy, but I can’t change it. I know sometimes it is not necessary, but to me, it is the key to the flawless final product.
The pisco sour sweetness was perfect, and at a more than reasonable price for NYC. Only problem: it is a little dangerous to take it if you are going back to work; you will feel a nice sensation of joy and irresistible need for laughter.

The best of the restaurant was the attention. One of the things that I inherit from my mother is her exaggerated sympathy with people who we have never even seen before. The typical person who always gets to talk to the neighbor ordoorman and tells stories such as : "My daughter this and that..."
Anyway, this is related to the fact that in the end I became friends with Richard, the waiter for the day.
Richard is of Mexican descent but he spoke with great passion about all Peruvian dishes and went the extra mile so I could go home happy.
I hope that should the owner reads this post, he will reward him!
Approx price per person including main course, dessert and drink $ 30. There is also a very affordable prix fox menu for about $ 10. In summary, Macorena is a place to eat original Peruvian food in the East Village, while taking care of our wallets.

Revolution Number 7:
Today I left home early to take my little one to the daycare. I made the routine trip, but this time something different happened . I saw that the city was finally flourishing ( after a grueling winter!). But it seems like spring is finally among us.
I could not help but to stop my car and take some pictures. I felt an unstoppable need to capture the moment. After a few blocks, I pulled overand walked for a few minutes to take some pics.
Then another need: to express my feeling of joy since we will not need to dress up this unbearable kit which I unavoidably lose each season (Gloves, hat, scarf, umbrella, etc). And no better way to do this than by expressing it through my culinary creativity. Inspiration: to prepare a soft, fresh, light and original ice cream recipe.
There are some days when I enjoy less traditional tasting tests. Then I think: who on earth would like my creations? The idea is simple: trial and error to get a mixture that initially appears impossible but with time it becomes a subtle combination and unconventional taste but surprisingly palatable.
It amuses me to prepare exotic things from time to time. Although I am also a faithful lover of my classic recipes.
I decided to make pisco and white chocolate ice cream. Of course, being in Chile (and soon in Peru) have inspired me to make this choice. So I decided to create something with this exquisite ingredient.
Both Chile and Peru are considered to be the inventors of the pisco sour.
Do you know what Pisco means? In Quechua means "bird." It is made of a strong, colorless grape brandy produced in Peru and Chile. It was originally developed in
The XVI century as an inexpensive alternative to liquor imported from Spain. It is the national drink in the 2 countries. The rights to produce and promote pisco were a matter of controversy for a long time.
There are endless possibilities of drinks made of pisco, including pisco sour,
the piscola, pisco punch, the serene free, carob, etc.
For this recipe you need to have an ice cream machine. Any affordable brand found in most stores will work.
Ingredients:
700 grs. Heavy cream
270 grs. milk
50 grs. pisco
8 egg yolks
100 grs. sugar
100 grs. white chocolate
Preparation:
1) Mix milk, pisco and 1/2 sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil in double boiler.
2) Beat eggs yolks with 1/2 sugar
3) Add the egg yolks and sugar mixture to milk mixture and continue
simmer, stirring with a wooden spoon, until you see that the
spoon forms a mark with your finger.
4) Incorporate the white chocolate until melted
5) Once cool down add the heavy cream
5) Once cool down add the heavy cream
6) Place in ice cream machine.
Enjoy!

Nuestro viaje a California/Our trip to California (In spanish and english) scroll down for english
No salía bien.

I have not made an entry blog for a while now. I'm just very entertained with several cocomitant projects : I provide catering services for events, I teach cooking classes, develop new recipes and, of course, the most beautiful job on earth: I am a mother!
I had recently had a call early in the morning that really really took me by surprise: I was offered to do a TV pilot in California.
At that moment I thought: “ And what do I do with my family? My daughter? Who will pick her up from the daycare?” Well, sometimes we really need to be creative and look for alternatives . Plan A, plan B, plan C and plan D… Those of you who are mothers, I am more than sure that you understand and identify with me.
I have decided to follow Plan C: Fill the bags with summer clothing and escape from the New York winter. Yes, I took them all to California ! (thanks to my family for following me in my crazy projects).
I cannot say much because it is a pilot; but what I can tell you is that I'm happy they thought of me; and the most important thing is: I gathered courage and did it.
You don’t know how much fun it was to prove myself in front of the cameras. I thought it would be super easy. It always sounded like a dream job with no stress. But I must confess it was a really hard job . Repeating a scene over and over again until the director tells you ok! Best of all was the last shot. It was not coming well at all.
At one point, when I bit the meringue, it poured non-stop from every corner. The cameraman was waving to re-do the scene. I think he was really shy to tell me that a piece had fallen on the floor and my mouth was filled with meringue !!!
In the end, a really fun experience. And a secondary gain for my daughter: She got to visit
Disneyland for the first time !!!

Ser latinos ...(In spanish and english) scroll down for english

Today is a special day for me. It's my daughter birthday.
She was born in New York, but her parents are from Argentina, like many other
immigrants. Sometimes I wonder what should I do to make her feel a bit Argentinean.
Obviously, being here means that we have to adapt in some way to most American customs. But my intention is to also show her where their family comes from. This is a decorated cake in the American style but with a latin filling. It’s made of a very Argentinean ingredient: The dulce de leche ...!
My inspiration:
